Finance and systems consulting for multi-unit restaurant and franchise brands
Your POS knows what you sold. Your ERP knows what it cost. I make them agree, then help you use the numbers to decide where to grow.
I've run this work from the inside: full P&L ownership of a 30+ location national franchise brand, and finance leadership for a $250M+ technology portfolio through a public IPO.
| Net sales in POS | 48,212.40 |
|---|---|
| Net sales in general ledger | 47,986.15 |
| Unexplained variance | 226.25 |
Who I work with
Companies adding locations, customers, or acquisitions faster than their systems and reporting can keep up.
Restaurant and franchise brands
Franchisors and multi-unit operators who need their POS, ERP, payroll, and delivery platforms to produce one trustworthy store-level P&L. Typical triggers: a POS conversion, a first ERP, a mobile ordering and loyalty launch, or a growth plan the current reporting can't support.
Growing companies in other industries
Distribution, consumer products, logistics, and service businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and entry-level accounting software, or need systems and costs integrated after an acquisition. I've done this work inside consumer goods, cold-chain logistics, and healthcare.
Services
Three areas, usually connected. A systems problem tends to show up first as a reporting problem.
-
Restaurant technology and integration
Toast POS selection and conversion, NetSuite for multi-unit restaurants, mobile ordering and loyalty, and the integrations that make sales, delivery, and costs reconcile.
Restaurant technology -
Fractional CFO and finance leadership
Store-level P&L and unit economics, budgets and forecasts, new-unit capital planning, pricing and margin, and reporting your board and lenders can rely on.
Fractional CFO -
ERP selection and implementation
For companies that have outgrown their systems: requirements, vendor selection and negotiation, costing, item master and data, reporting, and adoption.
ERP implementation
An operator, not an outside observer
I've spent 14+ years inside the businesses I advise: cold-chain logistics, healthcare insurance, consumer goods, and multi-unit retail. I've owned the P&L, signed the vendor contracts, and lived with the systems after go-live.
- 30+locations under my full P&L as Senior Director of Operations for a national franchise brand, where I negotiated and implemented NetSuite, led the Toast POS conversion, and launched a mobile ordering and loyalty app.
- $250M+annual technology budget I directed as the primary finance partner to IT at Lineage Logistics through its 2024 IPO.
- 30+acquisitions where I led IT finance, from underwriting through post-close integration of budgets and costs.
- $20M+in cumulative savings from multi-year SaaS agreements I negotiated with IT and Procurement.
- 4 ERPsworked across: finance lead on an Oracle implementation, owner of a NetSuite implementation, and reporting built across Microsoft Dynamics and Sage 100.
How engagements work
Most clients start with a short diagnostic. Some stop there with a clear plan. Others continue into a project or ongoing support.
Diagnostic
A fixed-scope review of your systems, reporting, and unit economics. You get a written assessment of what's broken, what it costs you, and the order to fix it in.
Project
A defined deliverable: a POS conversion, an ERP selection, a reporting rebuild, or a store-level profitability model. I manage the vendors and partners and own the outcome.
Fractional support
Ongoing finance and systems leadership for a set number of days per month, for companies that need senior judgment but not a full-time executive yet.
Common questions
Do you only work with restaurants?
No. Restaurant and franchise brands are my focus because I've run one, but the same problems show up in any business growing across locations, product lines, or acquisitions. I've done this work in consumer goods, cold-chain logistics, and healthcare.
Which systems do you work with?
NetSuite, Toast POS, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and Sage 100 on the transaction side, and Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Snowflake on the reporting side. If you're on something else, the accounting and data problems are usually the same.
Are you a CPA or an accounting firm?
No. I don't prepare taxes or perform audits. I work alongside your accountant, focusing on systems, reporting, and the operating and investment decisions the numbers should support.
Do you work remotely?
Yes. I'm based in metro Detroit and work with clients across the U.S. On-site time is part of most projects, especially store rollouts and go-lives.
Do you write code or configure systems yourself?
I lead implementations and direct the partners and developers who configure and build. I've managed developer teams and know enough about the data to specify exactly what needs to be built and to catch it when it's wrong.
